Have a great idea or plan.
Write a great business plan (or get help writing one)
Do your market research (is there a market for your idea, how big is it, what's it worth, who else is in it, what can be improved upon, what are the risks etc.)
Do your competitor research (know who you are competing against, what they do well, what they don't do well, pricing, points of sales, ways they market etc.
Get funding (whether this is from a bank, savings or an investor) work out what you need to get going and get the funds together.
Do a big launch.
Be sure not to waste money ( there a million ways you can spend money and far less ways to earn it), so be shrewd, especially in the early days.
Negotiate in the price of everything you buy. You can save a fortune.
Become big in your niche.
